I've Got A Secret

We're always hearing about weight loss secrets, tricks, and quick fixes. The truth is that most of them work for a while. Unfortunately, in a few years almost everyone who goes for the quick fix is right back where they started, if not heavier! Studies show that it's the people who make moderate lifestyle changes who are able to maintain their weight loss for years to come. They might not lose weight quite as fast, but they're much more likely to stay slim and healthy for the rest of their lives. I always tell my clients to make sure they only make changes in diet and exercise that they can see themselves keeping as part of their lifestyle for THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. That way, they'll be much less likely to gain the weight back, even if they don't lose quite as fast.

As far as weight loss secrets go, the best one I can share with you is from the apostle Paul. He said in Philippians 4: 12 and 13: "I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength." I don't think Paul was thinking of diet and exercise when he wrote this! But he's got a good point. If we can become content, whether we're getting to eat every single thing we want or not, whether we feel like getting on that treadmill or not, we're going to find the secret to true happiness. We don't want our contentment to come from whether or not our flesh is happy. And here's the best part - we can lose weight and get healthier through Him who gives us strength! I believe God actually cares about what you eat, how you feel, and whether or not you're taking care of your body, His temple. He will help you and give you the strength you need to get your flesh under control. Just ask Him, and you'll see what I mean.
